Fellow Instructors,

I met the other day with the NEW President of the Teacher Association – Mark Gustafson and New Vice President – Amy Wood. I wanted to start the process of turning over decisions with the association.

I have received allot of emails asking about membership to the Association for 2011-2012 year. We discussed this in length on the direction of this organization. It was decided that if attendance at the Summer Conference Summer of 2011 you are granted membership to the Association. Those teachers will not need to fill out any forms at all just come enjoy and receive all materials from the conference.

Those that cannot attend the conference we will miss you this summer but understand the money problems this State is in.

We will have a Membership request form emailed out during the conference. Once membership is approved then an invoice will be sent out. Once the invoice is paid then material on disks will be sent to you from conference. We are still working on this process and we have it all set before conference. Those not attending please do not worry we will get this to you as soon as it is completed.

The Board wants a strong and ethical group of members and this organization is heading that direction. To do this we must put into motion a membership request of some sort with an agreement. We want to release the best material possible to members and we will do that.

Any Questions please contact the new Board of directors:

Mark Gustafson - President

Amy Wood – Vice President

Kevin Jacobson – Secretary/Treasurer

Thank you,

2011-2013 Teacher Association Board

2010 Summer Conference

Some General Teaching Information:

NAED Certification - To put the rumors to bed, the recertification is NOT $500.00. If your license has expired or fixing to it is OK, They have extended them until they come out with the updated material (Spring 2010). That is the good thing about NAED they stay on top of updates. Last time I paid $90.00 for recertification and received a new binder and CD with all the updated material. This is an awesome group since they are recognized Nationally.

Any Certification is OPEN to ALL Instructors in Texas, You do not need to be a member of the TLPSCS Teachers association to attend. We would love to have you join us. We do try to keep Instructors up to date on things and offer what ever material we have to offer. We have a website and are working on a page to submit lesson plans to have posted for all.

A comment was made at Sam conference about associations and the need to be a member for protection and benefits. There are several groups to choose from make sure you shop around before you choose. To list a few:
United Educators Association -http://www.ueatexas.com
All three are great but shop the price of membership also. I know for a fact there are more please shop for the best one for your buck we are not rich.

Those interested in a 9-11 Dispatch scenario book at NO COST. All you need to do is email me 5 scenarios to me with a mailing address to mail it to you. Sample is attached. Dispatch Scenario Sample For Book

Texas LPSCS teachers Association believes in choice and wants you to be able to choose what you want. We will give you the shirt off our back if it will help you and most of all the STUDENTS.
We are all about the kids, but we as Instructors need to have a place to get resources from. I will continue to look and offer what we can to all of you in Texas what ever group you are with.

Thank you if you need anything please contact me and I will send you in the direction needed.

Association President,

Kevin Jacobson
